We give these away to read for free because we want you to love them — not so they can be scraped, reposted, resold, or fed to a machine. Every word here was written by a real person. Read it, share the link, tell a friend. But the text itself stays ours. Take it without asking and we will find it, and we will act. This page is the polite version; the rest of it is enforceable.

Ownership & copyright
Every element of Scroll is original creative work owned by Sky Scrawl Publishing and/or its authors — including, without limitation, each story, chapter, episode, title, synopsis, plot, storyline, dialogue, character, character name, world, place name, cover, illustration, artwork, translation, audio, typography, layout, and the compilation and arrangement of the catalogue itself. These works are protected under the Copyright Act, 1957 (India), the Berne Convention for the Protection of Literary and Artistic Works, the WIPO Copyright Treaty, the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (United States) where applicable, and other national and international copyright, database, and unfair-competition laws and treaties. All rights reserved.
No right, title, licence, or interest in any Scroll content passes to you by reading it, by any technical means of access, or by these terms — except the narrow, revocable permission to read for your own personal, non-commercial enjoyment. Everything not expressly granted is reserved.
What is prohibited
Except for the personal reading permitted above, you may not — and may not authorise, enable, commission, or assist any person, tool, or service to — do any of the following with any Scroll content, in any medium now known or later devised, in whole or in part, for commercial or non-commercial purposes:
- Copy, reproduce, save, print for distribution, or store our content outside ordinary personal reading
- Republish, re-post, mirror, syndicate, or make our stories or chapters available on any other website, app, feed, forum, marketplace, or channel
- Scrape, crawl, spider, harvest, index, cache for redistribution, or bulk-download our chapters, catalogue, or pages
- Frame, inline, embed, or hotlink our content so it appears as, or within, another service
- Translate, adapt, abridge, dramatise, narrate, or create derivative works from our content
- Sell, rent, lease, sublicense, or otherwise commercialise our content or access to it
- Remove, obscure, or alter any author credit, copyright notice, metadata, or watermark

Sky Scrawl content may not be used to train, pre-train, fine-tune, align, evaluate, benchmark, prompt, ground, retrieve into, or otherwise develop or improve any artificial-intelligence, machine-learning, large-language, generative, or similar model, system, dataset, corpus, index, or embedding — whether by us being used as input, output, reference, or retrieval source.
We expressly reserve all text-and-data-mining rights in our content and opt out of, and deny, any text-and-data-mining exception that might otherwise apply (including any reservation of rights under Article 4 of Directive (EU) 2019/790 and equivalent provisions elsewhere). This reservation is a machine-readable and human-readable statement of denial for the purposes of any applicable law. Any use of our content to build or operate AI systems requires our prior, separate, written licence, which we are under no obligation to grant.
Automated access & technical measures
Access by bots, scrapers, crawlers, headless browsers, or other automated agents is prohibited except for well-behaved search-engine crawlers that both obey our robots.txt and respect our reservation of AI and text-and-data-mining rights. We may deploy and enforce rate limits, request throttling, bot detection, access controls, and other technical protection measures. Circumventing, disabling, probing, or interfering with any such measure — or accessing our systems in a way that imposes an unreasonable load — is prohibited and may also violate computer-misuse and database-protection laws.
Enforcement & remedies
Unauthorised use of our content is copyright infringement and, where applicable, a breach of these terms and a violation of computer-misuse and database-protection laws. We actively monitor for infringement and misuse.
What happens if you take our work
We will pursue every available legal and equitable remedy — including takedown and disabling requests, DMCA and equivalent notices to your host, CDN, app store, and to search engines for de-indexing, revocation of access and IP-level blocking, and civil proceedings for injunctive relief, statutory and actual damages, an account of profits, delivery-up, interest, and recovery of legal costs — to the fullest extent permitted by law. We may also refer serious or commercial infringement to the relevant authorities.
Reporting infringement & takedowns
If you find our content reproduced without permission anywhere, or you believe content on Scroll infringes your rights, send a notice through the Sky Scrawl contact page. A valid notice should include: identification of the work; the exact URL(s) where it appears; your contact details; a statement, made in good faith, that the use is unauthorised; a statement that the information is accurate; and, where you claim to be the rights-holder or their agent, a statement to that effect and your signature (physical or electronic).
Counter-notice. If your material was removed in response to a notice and you believe that was a mistake or misidentification, you may submit a counter-notice through the same channel, identifying the removed material and its former location and including a good-faith statement and your contact details. We act on valid notices promptly and pursue infringement of our own works to the fullest extent of the law.
Trademarks
“Sky Scrawl”, “Sky Scrawl Publishing”, “Scroll”, our logos, series names, and the look and feel of the site are trademarks and trade dress of Sky Scrawl Publishing. You may not use them, or anything confusingly similar, without our prior written consent.
Disclaimers & governing law
Scroll is provided “as is”, for personal enjoyment. Stories are works of fiction; names, characters, places, and events are imaginary or used fictitiously, and any resemblance to real persons or events is coincidental. To the extent permitted by law, Sky Scrawl Publishing is not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential loss arising from use of the site. These matters, and any dispute arising from them, are governed by the laws of India, and you agree to the exclusive jurisdiction of the competent courts of India, without prejudice to our right to seek relief in any jurisdiction where infringement occurs.
